My next little mission is going to be making my own projector screen that flip's down off of the roof. I want a solid screen because I am really not a fan of the fabric screens, also, they are insanely expensive.
I can build my own screen to the perfect specifications, I can put on a nice frame as well as paint it with good projector paint for much less then the cost of purchasing one.
One thing I haven't yet worked out tho, what kind of locking/latch mechanism can I use to ensure that the screen click's into place on the roof?
It's a tricky one because I need to work out a way to be able to unlatch the screen (given that on the roof it's quite high) without it swinging down at a huge speed and knocking out everything behind it. Then I also need to find a way to be able to put it up as well without having to get a chair or something to stand on as that's not idea. I was thinking of doing something with pulleys and lowering it down but I don't want to have a stupid cable/rope hanging around if I can help it.
Does anyone have any ideas?
