Beginning around the end of december somewhere, I added that HTH broad spectrum alge killer to my pool. The orange bottle.
Instructions said your chlorine levels should be low, which it was. After adding it, the pool foamed almost like I added a bottle of shampoo.
So I guess, this is just what that stuff did. After 48 hours of circulating, all black alge was killed, and cleared via vacuum, and the waste setting.
I did a propper backwash, then resumed normal chlorine application...
this is now almost 3 or 4 weeks later, and the pool is still clear, but still foaming slightly when some one jumps in or stir the water.
The other thing, the pool attracts flies. hordes of them, then they die in the water. I kid not when I say I remove between 50 and 100 dead flies a day.
Water is not harsh on the eyes at all. As a matter of fact. it is the softest I've felt my pool to have ever been.

What else could cause the foamy water, and attraction to flies? Surely the alge killer has done its thing and is out of the water by now?
I thought about doing a shock treatment, but though I would check here 1st?
