Being new to this hobby, my understanding of what is a ''good sounding'' headphone is an incredibly hard journey to understand and finding an ''end game'' experience. My basic understanding thus far has established that you need certain basics in place first in order to attempt solving this challenge.
Power Conditioner - clean stable power
File format (quality) - bit rate etc
Amp - clean un-coloured
Headphone - The BIG question
Dac - a converter that can faithfully reproduce the artists intentions accurately (is the goal)
and to a lesser degree but still relevant:
Cables (yes i believe they make a difference)
If headphones all vary in its offering/personality, paring the above elements is critical. But DACS seem to have its own personalities too therefore paring headphones and DACs seems to to be the combo that is the most important to achieve?
Is this view correct? What combos do you see exist i.e. Sold state with more relaxed headphones? Planars?
What advice can you offer?
NOTE:
* probably no such thing as end game offering for many reaosns
