I have a panny Pt-ax-100e LCD projector, purchased in Nov 06 when this model was released in SA. I have 1342 hours on the bulb and about a month back the projector started shutting down on initial start up. Basically on start up it switches on and then shuts down after a minute or so. At 1st it did this once, I restarted and then it worked fine. Recently it is shutting down 3 or 4 times before it runs properly.
I have done a bit of checking on av science forum in the USA and it seems this is a common problem with this projector. Has anyone else here in SA had any issues with this projector at all?
The common problem seems to be that the dynamic iris is causing it to shut down. Panasonic SA only has a 1 year warranty on this projector so I am all out of luck getting it fixed under warranty. Other countries have a 2 year warranty on this unit.
Anyway I have sent it into Panasonic and await their feedback on what is wrong. I fear the worst and that the iris will have to be replaced out of warranty due to a design fault... My local Panasonic branch in Durbs is saying they have not heard of this problem, but looking at all the problems with this projector at AVS science forum I doubt I am the only one in SA with this problem.
Does anyone else have this projector and have you had similar problems? If so what was the result?
