Elsewhere, I wrote about my car being damaged by jacking the vehicle on its sill, away from the jacking point.
So I checked out some panelbeaters last week and this is the rat's nest I found: Panelbeater A wanted to cut open the sill which I found much too scary. Panelbeater B - capable of removing the damage by hydraulic means - had scores of complaints logged on hellopeter - anything from alleged vloeking at their customers to stealing. Panelbeater C was recommended by an acquaintance on the basis that C apparently successfully repaired damage caused to his car by panelbeater A.
Panelbeater C then sent me a quote and confirmed that they will not cut the sill but will use hydraulic tools to repair the damage.
With much trepidation, I then took the car to C and got it back yesterday afternoon. It now looks as if the entire left side of the sill was stonked-in as whoever worked there is totally incapable of masking the dividing line between the paintwork and the rubberising in a straight line :headbanger:
Near the place where the damage was, the dividing ridge between the paintwork and rubberising also almost disappears and anyone with a glass eye and impaired vision in the other eye can see the shoddy repair.
The car went back there this morning and I really don't know what I will get back this afternoon
What the hell is wrong with these people? Can't they understand that substandard work will have to be redone?
Since my first car I bought in 1962, I've had the odd few dings and not once has any panelbeater done a proper job right first time.
mafioso
