I need some new tyres for the family car - 205/60 R16. My main concern here is to have tyres that won't blow-out just 'sommer' and that will give me reasonably good mileage at a decent price. I don't need the tyres to last 100 000km, but doing better than the Kumho Solos (25 000km) and the Dunlop SP (just more than 30 000km) is a must.
I know some guys just go straight for the most expensive tyre. I like a more considered approach and look for value in this sort of grudge purchase.
I've had good mileage from Continental tyres on my runabout and can get them for around R1300 per tyre for the family car. Any other suggestions?
I had someone offer me Nexen tyres and I'm a bit sceptical. The particular set has an all road hazard guarantee and a 50 000km mileage guarantee (subject to a number things....similar to the Michelin guarantee). Checking reviews for Nexen tyres on a UK site, they appear to be well regarded there. I know some local manufacturers use them as OEM fitted items. Any experience with this here?
