Received my Philips Fidelio L1 from Massdrop yesterday through the Post Office after they shipped out beginning of November so great service.
Some first impressions:
- Excellent sound quality for the asking price, doesn't do anything wrong which is very rare at this price point
- Excellent build and finish, though one of the cups had a little scratch on it out of the box, metal hinges and gimbals.
- Very very comfortable headphone
- Pretty good isolation for a semi-open design
- Pretty awesome bass, warm sound without sounding wooly or rolled off in the treble
Price incl. shipping and duties amounted to R1500 via Massdrop. I'm very impressed with Philips' headphone efforts and sad that they aren't offered through retail channels here. I think they give Sennheiser a terrific run for the money and the build quality is far superior. Definitely makes me interested in the newer L2 and recently released X2.
