I'm wondering if anybody can help me - I have inherited the use of a fantastic looking set of Phillips speakers.... have done a bit of a search and found a world of enthusiasts on this forum, which is encouraging.
These speakers are wonderful - I love everything 70s unfortunately.... they look fantastic, let alone how the may sound!
When I first got my hands on these beauties, there were no cables. A visit to the local Hi-fi store got me a set of 5 pin plug cable to interconnect the two speakers (no problems there, assuming that speaker right is plugged into speaker left), but I don't have the 5 pin to RCA cable required to plug the second speaker into the amp.
Now I've had one attempt at converting a 5 pin plug cable to RCA plug with the result of the low end working on one speaker and the high end working on the other. (The cable from the 5 -pin plug has four paired cables. I end up with two RCA jacks connected to two of the cables and a two 2 pairs of wire I don't know what to connect to).
These speakers have taken a bashing from my party-loving in-laws over the 70s and early 80s ... could the problems I have with partial working of the speakers be due to blown up bits internally or could it be just my dodgy wiring attempts?
Does anyone know how these cables should be wired - a diagram perhaps?
