I gave myself an early birthday present yesterday - said DVD player
So far, very happy with it - tried a variety of CDs, DVDs, one DVD-A, DivX, MP3s (off a DVD-R).
DivX doesn't look as good as it does on a PC - I guess the extra processing power would do that. It's a neat extra though, and so is the MP3/WMA playback.
DVD-A is amazing, listened to a couple of songs from The Best of REM - Losing My Religion is an awesome surround mix, didn't enjoy the instrument placement in Man On The Moon quite as much.
I was also able to hear the sample DTS tracks on the B&W demo DVD in all their glory.
I'd read about this player not being able to pass blacker-than-black video signal, but I saw the blackest black I've ever seen on my TV. My TV is now definitely the weakest link in the system.
