Retrieved my old Pioneer PL12 from the depths of a cupboard about a month ago - I am original owner since new and it was my first personal (own) turntable as opposed to a family system. Main bearing (oil and lube) needed some attention which Jacques promptly sorted. Is'nt it amazing how good these simple and "old" machines still sound. I am using it with an AT 95 cartridge (not original headshell) - detail and musicality very good. Only lacks a bit of weight and upfront presence in my opinion. Just enjoying it even with less than "perfect" records in the collection.
Very keen on moving entirely into HI res digital so wondering about the other TT's - are they still necessary if this gem can do most of the business? Not near the Linn or Yamaha I also use but not too far off either in the bigger scheme of things
If anyone has original Pioneer headshell and better looking lid I will take it off you. Having a problem with loading pics but will try again later
