Hi
I have a Pioneer VSX-416 A/V receiver and my front left channel keeps dropping out randomly. A light smack almost anywhere on the unit will sort it out most of the time, sometimes it needs a few smacks.
From what I can gather, this is a classic symptom of 1 or more dry joints. I'm quite handy with a soldering iron and I can spot an obvious dry joint, but I'm wondering if its worth trying to find and fix this myself. I have remove the unit's cover and the innards appear to be quite complicated, although I'm sure with a bit of patience and some note-taking its not that hard to disassemble.
Does anyone have any advice, considering I've never attempted something like this before? Should I not even bother? If I wanted to sell the unit "voetstoots" to someone willing to do the repair work, would I be likely to get a decent price?
