We have been putting up with atrocious service from MWEB/Telkom on our so-called "8Mb" ADSL line for the last 6 months. Slow, intermittent, unavailable etc. etc. It really has been poor. Sometimes so bad that I can't even stream Tidal on Normal, never mind HiFi. Finally between the two of them they got things right about two weeks ago and the service was good. Then what happens? We got throttled.
And guess what? Vumatel has just completed rolling out fibre into Kensington. So we applied and have had brilliant service from Cool Ideas - everything thought of, constant updates - what a difference. We'll have the service within a week. And Telkom/MWEB haven't even tried to retain us. We've been with Telkom on this number for 24 years, and with MWEB for at least 20 (from dial-up modem days!). They really are dinosaurs. I did try to be fair to MWEB, but their packages are more for a "shaped" (i.e. throttled) version than many competitors' unshaped packages. They really don't get it.
