I am setting up my new listening room and started playing around with the DCX on my 12" 2-ways and something just doesn't gel. Soundstage is very weird and all over the show and even for a far listening distance in a still relatively live room I am placed outside the recording venue. I know that I've listened to cans a lot lately, but surely a room cannot be this bad?
Started looking at all sorts of things. Combed through the DCX settings, set gain structure, played around with BSC and decided to sit down and listen. The vocals almost seemed to come from behind me and everything was terribly diffuse.
....polarity inverted. It really pays to check the basics all the way from source to the speaker.
