Polishing Car Headlamp Lenses

Not actually the lens but the acrylic?/lexan plastic covers over the headlamps.

My car's headlamps look terrible - with a dull, brownish effect which I would like to polish clear again.

I won't use Brasso as this is a metal polish. Do you know of an all-in-one polish specifically formulated for headlamp 'glass'?

I saw a You-tube video somewhere where the guy used a succession of auto body paint abrasives and got a good result eventually.
