SOME GREAT REWARD

Depeche Mode's assent and evolution to legendary status started here. Some Great Reward, the band's 1984 industrial/mainstream masterpiece, is largely known for spawning the hit single "People Are People," one of the most familiar and beloved tunes of the '80s. Moody, dark, intelligent, sardonic, and completely in tune with the attitudes of the Reagan-Thatcher era, the touchstone release also features such signature Depeche Mode tracks as "Somebody," "Blasphemous Rumors," and "Master and Servant."

BLACK CELEBRATION

Originally issued on Mute Records in 1984, Black Celebration is the album where Depeche Mode's definitive darker edge sound became fully realized. Sonically, the group began slowly transitioning away from their earlier dance-pop sound on previous two releases Construction Time Again (1983) and Some Great Reward (1984). The 11-song set is an emotionally intense, anthemic masterwork that introduced the classics ?Stripped,? ?A Question Of Time,? ?Fly On The Windscreen,? and the title track and catapulted Depeche Mode into the spotlight for good.

MUSIC FOR THE MASSES

1987's Music For The Masses lived up to its title and then some, underscoring the power and songcraft of Depeche Mode as its popularity exploded and leading to a massive world tour. Produced by David Bascombe fresh off his engineering work on Peter Gabriel's immensely successful album So, the 10-song set was the band's first to break into the Top 40 on the Billboard 200 chart and it was home to more hit singles on the Billboard Hot 100 than any of their prior releases with "Strangelove," "Behind The Wheel," and "Never Let Me Down Again."

SONGS OF FAITH AND DEVOTION

Co-produced by Depeche Mode and Flood, 1993's Songs Of Faith And Devotion finds the band fresh off the massive success of 1990's Violator and in the middle of the burgeoning alternative-rock/grunge movement, reflected here with the use of more guitar than previous releases. In spite of those potential hurdles, Songs Of Faith And Devotion shot straight to No. 1 on both sides of the Atlantic on the strength of the mega-hit single "I Feel You" and further classic fare like "Condemnation," "Walking In My Shoes," and "In Your Room."
