I've inherited a Quad 33/303 pair from my brother.
They are in average condition. I've tested it briefly in the garage and it all seems to work, sounds quite good even on a set of old 4" Celestion F10 surround speakers.
From what I have read, the 303 power amp is the better part of this set. Considering that to use it as a main living area system I would really like a remote for volume.
My question is how well would a newer preamp feeding the 303 work? I would like a remote and it would need a phono input.
Anybody done this? Any suggestions?
Considering the value of the 303 I wouldn't want to spend more that R 2 to R 3k on something.
Perhaps a decent integrated amp with a pre-out?
In terms of line level, I've plugged in my phone with RCA lead straight into the 303 and the volume range seems ok relative to a newer amp.
