My eldest son (14 ) came home from school today and told us that his best friend is leaving to go to a public school next year because private schooling is too expensive according to his parents.
This family live in the same estate as us, mom has her own business and drives a brand new Range Rover Evoque, and dad has a brand new Navara.
It seems like a fancy car is more important than a better education for your kids ?
I have seen this through the years at our school, where the parents that flash the platinum cards around and drive million rand cars, are usually the first ones who pull their kids out of private schools to maintain their lifestyle.
Are we living in a society with reckless lending, where you can pay 10K + per month on your car and then still have a fat residual after 4 years which you cannot afford to settle ?
Basically the car dealerships have you by the balls for life, and you are forced to trade in and start all over again.
It's sad that some parents are more concerned about their perceived image than their kids future.
My questions are : Is private schooling a waste of money and 10K+per month per child could be better spent on a lavish lifestyle ?
or: Do car dealers/banks have you in a situation where you have no way out other than cashing in your pension to
actually OWN your cars ?
Any thoughts guys.
