I have been in the fortunate position to receive my first TT for free from a good hearted fellow forum member Ron G. A +/- '66 model Garrard 1000.
I am going to try and restore this beauty to it's former glory. I decided to first get it into a working condition before re-doing the veneer & other cosmetics.
So far I found out that it does not use a belt (Tx Steerpike) but a idler wheel instead. The motor is turning, but I will need to do a complete lube service to loosen up
all the moving parts that has become stiff from years of standing.
It has a old Pioneer PC-11 Cartridge. I managed to get a replacement stylus for it from Hendri at Lantis Electronics. I might look at getting a better cartridge at a later stage.
Some grease & All in one oil from Midas. I even swopped my Yamaha RX-V630 for Vishen aka Audio Junkie's HK AVR30 receiver because th Yammie did not have a phono input.
I am all ready to go.
The project can now start taking shape. I will keep you fellow forumites updated on the progress and upload some pics at various stages.
