Hi,

I've searched on Google, but can't seem to find any definite solution.

I have an Optoma HD66 projector with a matte white, pull-down screen.

Most movies are in 2.35:1 aspect ratio. When played on my projector, they have black bars on the top and bottom similar to this:

I find the bars very distracting during certain scenes.

Now, the only solutions I have found are as follows:

1) Spend $1000 (over R7000) on an anamorphic lens? (Why so expensive)?
2) Get the SI Black Diamond 2 screen (Don't even know if it's available in SA, but seems to cost over R14000 in the States)?
3) Get another projector, but I'm not sure what to look for? Some LCD projectors have crazy contrast ratios, but a few sites say those are exaggerated.

Has anyone else got a better idea as to how I can remove those black bars? I paid $600 for my projector (around R4500), so it seems crazy to spend even more than that just to remove some black bars.

Thanks for the help!
