So I finally got around to completing my car audio install. Nothing serious at all,  but enough for me for now. ::)

I've got a Ford Figo which I use for commuting to work mainly, so I do spend about an hour a day in it on avg. Anyhow, got a pair of 6" JBL GTO splits up front, mounted nicely on mdf spacers (sealed the mdf), running off an Alpine CDE235BT 2 din  HU. In the boot, in a tiny 8L sealed enclosure, is a 8" JBL GTO sub, running off a bridged Targa amp. The Targa  should do about 150W bridged into 4 Ohm.

Anyhow, I'm reasonably pleased with the sound, although my biggest issue remains road noise. I added a couple of sound deadening sheets to the boot. They were reasonably successful. From my rough and ready phone sound meter tests I reckon I reduced noise by about 3-4dB.

Ito sound, bass is reasonably ok, although I enjoy bass a bit more dry. I also get the feeling that bass is somewhat delayed. I spent a bit of time trying to sort it and ended up setting front xo on 80Hz and the sub xo 120Hz. I also had to obviously push the sub vol up a bit. The tiny sealed sub is not particularly efficient.

There are some of the subwoofer settings that I don't understand so well. There is a Q setting ranging from 0.5 (wide) to 2 (narrow). Then there is also a 'center' freq which range from 60-120Hz.

Can  anyone give me some pointers on how to use this selection of settings to optimize bass? There's just too many combinations and doing the settings using music is quite a hit/miss thing.
