I recently picked up a Quad QC 24 tube preamp from the forum. The preamp makes a sssshhhhh sound through the speakers. You would have to lean into the speaker to hear this noise and does not interfere with the music, in fact, you cant hear it when music is playing but I just dont like that its there. I see that these tubes are suppose to last anything between 60k - 100k hours, but this unit was launched quite a while back so its possible that it may be due for a tube change. The issue is locating a replacement tube. I have not done any testing to check if it is indeed the tube but i think it would be worthwhile to keep a spare handy anyway, so if anybody has a spare or know where i can find one, please let me know. The tube in question is a 6111WA twin triode.
