Question for the i phone gurus

So if I have my router on at home and my i phone has it's wi-fi on and I have entered my home adsl password, do I need to turn off cellular data on the phone in order to force the phone to use my home adsl?

Right now, the cellular data button is on, the phone's wi-fi is on and what I see on the screen is the signal strength bar, the word 'vodacom' and then instead of 3G or LTE, there is the wi-fi symbol....
