Referring to this thread http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,47006.msg599089.html#msg599089 and the one re tone control (http://www.avforums.co.za/index.php/topic,46962.0.html), a quick question. I know from past experience that one has to take care when setting the manual volume of the sub vs the level setting on the AVR in order to prevent distortion and to get optimum performance from the sub. Generally it is recommended to set the sub volume round about 12 o'clock to 1 o'clock and then to adjust the level setting on the AVR (automatically or manually). Question though, my sub's manual volume is set to approx 1 o'clock but it then yields quite a high +7db level (out of 10) on my AVR settings. It sounds OK and much better than the original setting where I had the sub's manual volume too high with a zero gain on the AVR (that sounded terrible). Is there such a thing as too high a level setting on the AVR?
