Rainy weather and my solar system
I recently had a PV/inverter/battery system installed. It was duly commissioned and started working. The next day the wet weather started: over the last 15 days up here in Jo’burg, we have had over 200mm rain, only 2 half-sunny days and 13 days of medium to heavily overcast skies.
I am still getting used to the inverter app, and am starting to understand (a bit!) the different figures and how settings can affect system performance.
Over this period, of my average usage of 20kWh a day, the system (PV + batteries) managed to provide 14kWh (70%) which I consider pretty acceptable. Batteries have also managed well in my view: SOC averages 80%, with it dipping to 52% only twice.
I know now that summer is “easy” for these systems. Of course, the real test only starts in autumn, and lasts through winter into spring – then we shall see!
How is your system managing?
