My blood pressure must be somewhere in the high 600's:

Every F.......! year I get audited by SARS. Not just me, my wife too. For what reason is beyond me, because every year we are eventually cleared and then all is well till the next year. We are also provisional tax payers, since we are commission earners. Now to add insult to injury, on this past Friday SARS sends me this stupid letter AFTER my annual audit had been completed:

WTF WTF WTF?!!!!!

Now I have to get all this stuff together, drive all the way to my closest SARS office which is a 500km round trip, stand in the queue for hours on end and HOPE to get served before they close!

I phoned them and even spoke to a supervisor just to find out, "no, you cannot send this stuff to us, you must be there in person to be verified and only then will your tax refund be 'un-stopped'".

For for the love of money, this year SARS need to pay me back R30k, only because I am a commission earner and some months you earn nothing and then there's one or two months where all the past deals comes to register in the same month and then pay too much tax overall. That is the law however, so I cannot help that they sit with more tax than what was needed in the first place.

Now, SARS gets hardegat when they need to pay you out and now I have to go and stand there, in person and they say this is to protect the tax-payer - fat chance. Waste more of our tax money that is.

I have always had this bank account number and have not changed it since starting out as a salary earner back in 1985 or maybe when I got y first checque account in 1988. Whatever, they say it is to prevent them paying out into the wrong bank account, yet they have paid other amounts into that same account for several years.

I asked the Super if he can check my wife's tax status if she also has to go through the same crap this year, then we can at least make one trip instead of 2. Could not help me, since I am not authorised on her tax account, blah, blah, fishpaste.  :headbanger:

After that I got on my high horse and thought: I'm gonna phone the Public Protector and hear what they can do for me. Looked up the number and called. They make you pick a language immediately. Picked Afrikaans. Got automated message: "We are now closed, however you are welcome to call during our office hours, which is from 8 am till 4:30 pm". This was 3:08 pm      WTF?!!!!!  :walled:
Called 2 more times and picked other languages, same story.

I give up
