Hi guys..
Just a heads up..Rasberry Pi requires you to purchase a mpeg-2 and vc-1 license in order to play DVD files legally.
It can be purchased via the http://www.raspberrypi.com/ website. It comes to R53 at the current exchange rate for both licenses.
NB - You do need to supply your Rasberry Pi's serial number. If you running Rasbmc its easy to record the number via the System Settings tab.
Otherwise you have to follow the instructions below:
To find your serial number, type cat /proc/cpuinfo at the command line as shown below:
pi@raspberrypi:~$ cat /proc/cpuinfo
Processor : ARMv6-compatible processor rev 7 (v6l)
BogoMIPS : 697.95
Features : swp half thumb fastmult vfp edsp java tls
CPU implementer : 0x41
CPU architecture: 7
CPU variant : 0x0
CPU part : 0xb76
CPU revision : 7
Hardware : BCM2708
Revision : 1000002
Serial : 000000000000000d
They say it takes 72 hours for the license to be emailed, but I received mine after about a hour.
