Ok firstly let me take this opportunity to say hi to all of you here avforums. I've been quite active on the carbonite forums and after my friend, Ara, convinced me that I should take a look at these forums I saw that there's definitely a space for this bunch on my tapatalk :) I've also been getting more and more interested in audio/videophile tech and as time passes I'm sure I'll build up a much better understanding of quality components with the ultimate goal of having my own home theater room. Right now I'm just pretty big on pc stuff and am mostly done with building my 24 drive server. But that's all for later.

Right now I'm curious as to what your opinions will be on the expected performance of the raspberry Pi units with xbmc. I'm sure a bunch of you guys have already placed your orders by now and have also heard of the raspbmc project. I've already seen that video playback shouldn't be an issue with it being able to play 1080p mkv's flawlessly. But now I'm wondering how it will handle huge libraries with their corresponding library of art when scrolling through the menu. My microserver even takes a little bit of time to cache the pics when I go into the series or movies folder. Raspbmc is apparently kernel optimized which is why it can handle movies but do u guy think that these kernel optimizations will help for general menu fluidity? Or do you think that running the xbmc library on a networked machine and not locally is the way to speed things up? Have any of you tried comparing the difference in speed between a locally hosted xbmc database and a one hosted on another machine (MySQL)?
