Raspberry Pi @ questions

Ok, so I get the Raspberry Pi 2 Model B,

Now which OS to load, Kodi? Just doenload from interweb, copy to SD card and off you go?

For the particular OS, where is the FAQ and community forum, so to provide a self-help source?

Then a few questions:

Can I connect a usb harddrive to it?
Can I connect en external Blu-Ray Drive to it?
Can I use it to rip my cd's to flac?

So, these seem stupid questions, but will direct me towards my accessory purchases.
