Not even sure I should ask it because the answer seems obvious but why not...
Its midnight so perhaps I will be forgiven :help:
When mounting a tonearm in a diy plinth is there a special place for the hole? Now I am green butnot that green, I know about the importance of spindle to pivot distance. But there is a continuum of holes at that radius. Clearly some choices would be inconvenient or would look daft. Do you just choose a nice looking spot? Obviously if the deck has some mechanicals or plating in the way it influences choices.
While on a roll then...
1. If the arm doesnt look like it has huge vta adjustment I guess you just measure or eyeball whether its going to work with the arm flush on the deck or if it needs a raised mounting plate. Obviously relative to whether the deck is surface or flush mounted in the plinth.
2. Is it nice to put some rcas on the back of the deck so you can choose interconnect? I am leaning toward nrot breaking continuity in the tonearm wire.
3. Where to get and what oils good to use on a Garrard 401. Sewing machine oil and lithium grease. Or some sort of motor oil. What have you disolved the old oil and grease with?
4. Nice to put a iec kettle plug inlet on back of plnth or go for captive cord?
5. Worth putting any filters like a dc blocker on the inlet? I think I may have some because even modest torroids hum slightly
Ta very kindly
