recomended Book shelf speakers

Hi All

Any recommendations for a beginner audiophile that is on a budget, recently found a pair of boston hd8 speakers that is cosmetically very neat , however the surrounds are breaking up, the seller doesnt seem keen on repairing and selling at the agreed price of R2000, so i may need to look elsewere , any recomendations will be highly appreciated , budget is between 1k to 4k
