Hi Guys
I have moved into my new place, and a multitude of ideas are springing out of things I would like to do. I am looking for some recommendations for a builder or contractor that you have had experience with (in the JHB / Gauteng region) to help these ideas materialize.
I am quite fussy - I do not understand some people (like previous owners) where, at first glance, the place looks good; but a little close inspection reveals terrible finishes, skew tiles, etc. which drive me nuts. So looking for someone that does meticulous work. Also someone who will not cut corners without asking first - I want things to look good but do not want to have to micromanage and supervise every single step of the way.
For now it is not a massive amount of work - but looking for someone who can also help with good ideas for the design, use of the space, clever tricks to hide cables, reticulation, etc. Priorities at the moment are:
- smooth and paint "uneven" finish of walls
- replace slate tiles with either wood-look tiles or seamless concrete
- build out and cover fireplace with cladding
- possibly, if budget allows now, install ceiling boards and reticulate cabling (TV, downlighters, etc.)
Any recommendations welcome. Not looking for a jack-in-the-box cheapie, but also do not need a top-billing accredited design studio
