I have a friend that have an old DSTV decoder. He has the following need, and is looking for the best piece of equipment to do the following:
- He would like to set the "equipment" to record a specific show;
- He would like to extract the show to a DVD or something. Do not worry about copyright, he is a avid environmentalist, is it is the normal 50/50 shows and news articles. He normally uses the shows in education.
Being a government employee, he does not have the funds to go and buy the best out there, but just need something functional that can do this. I proposed a PVR decoder, together with a cheap "Esquire type" TV capturing system. This is what I used to use. However, getting the stuff from the PVR decoder is a bit of a hassle. Anyone know of something more elegant, that is not such a mission to extract ?
