Recovering an External HDD that is no longer readable

So today I finally got a another drive and I was setting up to do a back up of all my data.
Plug in the external HDD with all my movies and Music and Murphy's Law the HDD is no longer readable.

Any ideas on what I can do? Anyone in the East Rand / Bedfordview area that can take a look and possibly recover the data?
