Something I've been thinking about a bit lately ( among other things...)
Most of the classic turntables barring Garrard perhaps? you could reproduce just about the whole thing with low effort and while it wouldn't be a Linn or Rega, or Lenco or what have you it would be just about as good or better (given modern tech)?
Something I'd be keen on trying is to get an acrylic (Perspex) platter made up for a Rega turntable, surely I'm not the first to think of this so wondered if someone else has done this and what the results were? it would be relatively inexpensive but would take a bit of time, perhaps there's a CAD file floating around for this...
