Hi all,
My brother bought a Rega Planet Acos and it was working fine for the first few days and then the motor just started freaking out. It turned but when under load (when the belt was on), the motor would just shudder. I took a look at it suspecting the capacitor may be at fault and found this:
On further investigation I discovered it's a vintage Philips cap:
Any idea where I could find this locally or what a modern day equivalent would be?
I pulled out the bolt meter and got this:
Which makes zero sense. I would think the specs would be 0.22uF / 10% / 400v.
My knowledge of electronics is pretty limited so please excuse me if I'm not seeing something obvious.
On replacing the cap and putting it all back together, the motor is shuddering backwards and forwards, it seems to have a mind of its own.
