I havent done any serious stereo listening for a very long time.HT kinda took over for me and I sold most of my stereo kit.
I recently decided to set up a stereo system in my study(with kit I already had in the cupboard) and it was nice but not quite there.
It's very modest stereo set up comprising of a Rotel RCD971 CD player,a Cambridge Audio SR 10 integrated amp, recently aquired B&W 685's(thanks waterhond) and Transparent Music Wave speaker cables with Monster M550 interconnects.
With the cold weather and not much to do today I decided to move the stereo set up into the lounge just to see what it sounds like.
Set it all up,fired it up and put in a Diana Krall cd, sat down and pressed play on the remote.First track was good and there after just seemed to get better and better.Found my self dusting off cd's I havent listened to in years and enjoying every minute.Even my wife(who has an alpine head unit 6X9's and 12 inch subs in her car) thought it sounded really good.Spent the afternoon on the couch just enjoying the music and it is amazing how good the 685's are.For a 5K set of bookshelf speakers they really do sing and even this modest stereo system had me captivated for hours.
So my stereo system will be staying in the lounge and I am looking forward to many more hours of good old stereo listening.
Now to figure out whats next on the stereo upgrade list..
