I recently relocated from the Northwest Province to Mpumalanga.
I thought I would the law abiding thing by changing my details with the bank.
Big mistake!
ABSA no problem for me but for my wife who has a permanent residence permit it was a nightmare. 3 hours plus at two different branches spanning 3 days.
Nedbank however seem to have their own set of rules and stopped short of asking for a DNA sample in addition to being rude and abrupt.
In both cases we were treated like we had broken the banking code of conduct or we were asking for an unsecured loan.
Surely there must be a standard set of rules governing this, like proof of residence and an SA ID.
In both cases I can say that dealing with the Department of Home Affairs to get my wife's SA ID application submitted was easier and the staff were more helpful and co-operative.
