JRiver with it's last update now has Ripping DVD music as a standard feature to the format of your choice. No other external software/hardware required. Lovely!
The basics is this :
You need to rip the DVD first, then "convert" it to audio, using Extract Audio from Video.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I will be ripping some of my discs to FLAC, these first:
Boz Scaggs Greatest Hits Live ( A Superb disc if you are a Boz Scaggs fan).
India Arie Live In Brazil (India Arie, Brazil ! - the people, the people! - their "gees" and
talent, music played by them, and last but not least, the scenery
where India Arie plays her songs, just beautiful) Great disc, great
storytelling all round.
Steely Dan's Tow Against Nature ( listen to my cd as it doesn't have the vibrancy and freedom
as played on the dvd)
Santana Sacred Fire Live in Mexico ( to me, this is one of their best concerts)
