I want to 're-commission' a springloaded roller blind to shield some audio gear from the afternoon sun.
The blind was custommade for the window where I want to put it but it won't stay down in its extended position and just shoots up to its coiled position if you know what I mean.
Before I put it up last weekend, I lubricated the mechanism with some sewing machine oil as it had been unused for several years.
The mechanism is branded Eclipse, made by Haglund, Sweden.
The blind obviously has a pawl engaging with its spindle and the pawl is not seized when I had another look this afternoon.
I googled extensively this afternoon and found some YouTube stuff and drawings of its two brackets but zilch on the mechanism.
What I would like to know - is the pawl springloaded to engage with the two notches in the spindle or does the pawl engage through gravity?
I cannot remove the mechanism to have a better look as it has been crimped onto the wooden roller.
Anyone knows how the mechanism works?
Thanks
skollie
