The brand we used before the present m/w oven was Sansui which rusted to pieces inside 18 months. We dumped it when it started raining pieces of rusted metal inside.

All our appliances are cleaned thoroughly once every week with non-corrosive, mild detergents and their doors left open for a while to dry properly.

In order to prevent buying another rust bucket oven, I bought a new Samsung "Ceramic Inside" from Game in August 2013. Its entire inside surfaces are coated with a finish similar to what one finds inside stove ovens - presumably referring to the "Ceramic Inside" logo on the Samsung's door.

I checked its guarantee booklet which states the guarantee (with exceptions) is two years and that for the magnetron 5 years.

While cleaning the m/w oven this morning, my wife showed me telltale signs of rust at the oven's rear inside, all along one horizontal and two vertical seams. I confirmed that the 2mm wide brown strips in the seams are indeed rust by running a plastic spatula along them.

I suppose I can go the route of contacting Samsung or Game but the outcome will probably be frustration and ducking and diving.

I'm thinking of using a rust inhibitor or rust converter type of paint applied with a brush along the seams.

Have you used any particular rust inhibitor or rust converter type paint and how effective was it?

Much obliged
