I received two old ex SABC plinth for an SP10 from peter (on this here forum).
They seem to have two very different design principles and I am also wondering what the material of the heavy variant is... Maybe someone can chip in here...
Plinth # 1
A sandwich of two chipboard Formica covers boards cut and then joined by isolating rubber rings...
Is there any merit to this design?

Plinth # 2
This one is just a top. Some heavy material covered with Formica... I am not sure of the material:

Anyone know what material it is? Could it be stone? Certainly heavy enough...
