Hey guys, just a heads up as this fellow/fellows has been contacting me recently regarding items sold on AVSA
I received an sms as follows: "I'm interested in buying your receiver. If its still available call me for arrangements. Paul"
This already seemed fishy but i decided to call anyways. Man answers, i ask him which receiver he is referring to but he doesnt know. Tells me to hold while he checks the AVSA site quickly, he then asked me for my location (probably to search for my ads through the classifieds)
Told him i have never heard of a black south african with the name Paul...... ;D
After this i think he caught the hint that i'm not going to fall for his trickery. I just wanted to warn others as these guys sound pretty darn intelligent over the phone and i can foresee that some will be suckered into this.
I know there have been threads about the scam artists using junkmail and gumtree as channels but seems like they have locked onto AVSA specifically also
