My impecunious neighbour, who I converted to hi-fi some years ago, has a set of old Sony 3-way speakers. When the last load shedding came back, his system was on and there was a loud noise. It turns out now that one of the mid-range drivers has a scraping voice coil and sounds peculiar. If I gently move the cone back and forth, I can detect a slight scrape. There is no dust cap on the mid, so I can see down the pole piece
Would you say there is any reliable way to fix this without getting him a new driver? He really has no money so I would have to buy it
