Forgive my ignorance on this matter, but I was wondering why there are forumites who refer to Gumtree by slanderous terms such as "scumtree" and "gumfraud". I have used Gumtree for just over 2 years now and find it to be useful and user-friendly (most of the time). Yes, I have been approached by fraudsters trying the usual scams of offering EFT payments but not wanting to permit sufficient time for the funds to clear before they collect the item. Simple common sense and vigilance should protect you here and it is not the websites fault if fraudsters try their luck here as they do anywhere else.
More disconcerting is that the same forumites who slander Gumtree are quite happy to use the site when they have been unsuccessful in procurring a sale here on the forum. Is this not just a tad hypocritical?
In terms of user-friendliness, I would love to be able to upload photos on the forum with the ease that I am able to do so on Gumtree.
