Dear all,
i am a newcomer to this forum and to South Africa. Great country, amazing people.
But I miss a decent audio equipment!
I would be looking for a nice pre-amp, power amp (or integrated amp), cd player and speakers in a range of 40/50K in total. I went to some shops in Sandton and ............... I could not believe the prices of new equipment compared to Europe or US. So I'd better go for used equipment. At home I have an audio research sp11 pre-amp, a musical fidelity f19 power amp, accuphase cd player and cabasse speakers. To tell you the truth, I love my music more than my equipment, I just followed the recommendations of an audiophile friend when i made the acquisition of my equipment, I listened the combination and ... done!
I have been lookinh here and there on the web (gumtree, audiovideo) and it is quite difficult to make a choice given the diversity of offered equipment and prices, leaving aside the supposed "good faith" sellers who all the sudden had to moce overseas, leaving the equipment in SA but to proposing to come back to show the equipment upon performance of moneygram transfer :-\.
