Our pool area is walled off, but on the road side of the property. We have quite a bit of outdoor furniture /braais/firepits/etc on that side, and the insurance only covers us for R10,000 (unless I insure under all risk). Its pretty easy top hop over the wall, grap what you want and walk out the side door which can be openned from the inside (12v release on lock).
My main concern is actually the cushions on the outside furniture, I'm sure they'll make a comfortable bed - and cost a fortune to replace.
I'm thinking of either putting in beams, connected to my alarm, or an electric fence on that section of the property.
I was just quoted almost R5k for ONE wireless 180 degree beam, and one wireless door contact with installation. Wireless in this case will be preferred as I don't want conduits running on that side of the house.
Besides the quote being on the high side - I'm thinking an electric fence might be better (connected to alarm), but only around the pool area. (the one neighbour on the left has an electric fence already, and the rest of my property the dogs are kept at - and trees around the boundry will make a fence difficult.
Any advice?
Red line dictates electric fence... and basically gives an idea of what I don't want stolen.
We've never had a problem before - but - its probably only a matter of time.
