I've been itching to get myself a set of Senn 800's for a while now and there used to be some bargains out there. Unfortunately it appears that these are discontinued and getting a set of old stock will set you back R14k. Obviously this isn't going to happen...
So, I've been looking at a set of Senn 650's. These have been out for some time and I fear they might be a little long in the tooth. What's the general consensus on the 650's? Or is there something from other manufacturers in the same league that's popular now? I'm rather partial to AKG's as well, how would the K701's compare to the HD650's? Then there's also the Grado headphones, what your take on these?
The only issue I have with Senn's is that they can be a little light in the bottom end - at least all the ones I've had. I liked AKG in the past, but the one's I've had was a little light in detail again.
I suppose I can spend a lifetime on Head-fi to get more info but life is too short to spend weeks on forums to try and figure this out for yourself.
