I am trying to go SET without any experience of the products and little valve knowledge. So in the RSA I am trying to buy "keeper" products. Like for example Leben, Manley, Audio Note etc.
I visit the USA for about 3 months pa. I want to get a USA system where I want to experiment with SET by getting specials etc.
So to cut a long story short and if you would kindly help, what system would you put together/advise for high efficiency speakers AND a SET amp?
I would obviously then first buy that which is still on special and that appears to only be speakers.
Source will be Tidal. May have to also get a DAC. But The speakers and the amp are most NB for me to start.
Can spend around $5000 in total if there is good reason, but preferably want to limit all to $3000 or $1000 per item. Have almost all else. Also do not need to buy all now.
Nidri has been kind enough to research and help so far, but I need more help and maybe options?
I have read up on Nidri?s suggestions which I like and have ended with 2 options for speakers. I am buying speakers first as they still have specials on them.
The Zu Audio "dirty weekends" are out as they are sold out until June. The Omega's in the $1000 range are also sold out.
1) That leaves only the Tekton Lore Reference for $750pr, 96dB, 8", Reviewers say similar to Audio Note. Free $100 shipping
2) OR Lore for $1000pr, 98dB, 10" Reviewers say great bass & similar to Harbeth's. Free $100 shipping
3) The Lore Be tweeter option which Nidri likes a lot, maybe becomes too expensive at $1600? (IMO) plus $100 shipping.
Any forumites with suggestions please? Maybe anything else to consider?
At the moment I am thinking of going for the Lore?s in option 2. I am attracted by the low Watt amps (like 3 Watts)
