Sign of things to come??

When i walked into Look and Listen at the Menlyn branch early this evening, i noticed that in the classical music section, most of the cd shelves were empty. The gentleman who was in attendance then mentioned that due to poor sales, they will be closing the section. Furtherm he lamented the fact that today, he has not sold a single cd and he suspects that people are now preferring to download music. This made me to ask myself whether this is the beginning of the end of cd. Or maybe the end started a while ago? Are there any forum members out there who are now using the download option? How is the quality of the sound?
