Silicon damping fluid or any other substitute

Where can I get hold of some silicon damping fluid or a substitute that does the same job? Is there a local brand and if so under which name? I'm trying to get my arm lift on the Sansui sorted as the arm lift doesn't lower the arm down slowly but instead just drops it down?
